Policy Stability Confidence Increases EU Buyers' Footwear Order Backflow China

Since the European Union withdrew the anti-dumping duty of 16.5% on China Leather Shoes on April 1st, EU buyers began to redeploy the transferred orders back to China, and the planned transfer also indicated that they would not be transferred any more.

Previously, due to the rising cost of China's footwear production and the EU's anti-dumping tax barriers and other multiple reasons, the industry has been through the Nike, Puma, Adidas and other international shoe giants are ready to transfer part of the production and procurement of products from China, currently, the European Union Buyers of shoes have already indicated to Chinese factories that they will not transfer their orders for the time being.

The domestic shoe company O'Connell shoes, after years of anti-dumping defense, finally tasted the fruits of victory. At present, Aokang's nearly 20,000 pairs of leather shoes are being shipped to the European Union. This is Aokang's first batch of leather shoes that entered the market after the EU eliminated the 16.5% anti-dumping duty. Next, there are hundreds of thousands of pairs of leather shoes sent to Europe waiting for delivery. Ao Kang spokesman Wang Hailong explained yesterday that many customers have returned orders.

“Our European company GEOX, the largest customer in the European Union, prior to the EU’s anti-dumping duties on leather shoes in China, reached a maximum of 1.5 million pairs at the time of our orders, and then declined to less than 1 million pairs. Now, GEOX has transferred orders. We have returned to our hands and this year's order volume has increased by 70% compared to the same period of last year. In addition, there are some small EU customers who have previously stopped placing orders with us because of anti-dumping. Now they are coming to negotiate again. Wang Hailong said.

Wu Liming, head of the Kangnai Group's International Trade Department, also said that although the cost of raw materials and labor increased, coupled with exchange rate fluctuations, the export quotation for shoes has risen differently this year, but because EU buyers have reduced their anti-dumping duties. Burden, some customers are still looking back.

Guo Weiwen, secretary general of the Guangdong Footwear Federation, also stated that the EU will revoke anti-dumping duties on Chinese shoes. Buyers are not only seeing a corresponding reduction in costs, but also more importantly policy stability, at least not expected to be within the EU for some time to come. Anti-dumping on Chinese leather shoes will increase the confidence of Chinese purchases.

“Because of the rapid increase in the cost of making shoes in Guangdong, some large international customers earlier this year said hello to the factory or part of their orders. Since April, these buyers have been hesitating to order that part of the In succession to the Guangdong shoe factory orders, according to what we know, Adidas, Nike and other international shoe giant orders increase. After the cancellation of anti-dumping duties, not only slowed the transfer of some orders from Guangdong, but also to stimulate the order backflow of some products involved in the case. Previously, the products involved in the shift to Southeast Asia for avoiding anti-dumping duties were redeployed. Compared with shoe manufacturing companies in Southeast Asia, our footwear industry still has strong competitiveness in terms of production technology, efficiency and quality.” said Guo Weiwen. .

In recent days, China's major shoemaking bases have increased their export orders to Europe. According to news from Shushan, the capital of China’s western capital, the EU orders held by major companies in the footwear industry have increased by about 80% year-on-year. After the EU's anti-dumping duties were lifted, China's shoe companies had a chance to breathe when their costs rose. However, the Ministry of Commerce and relevant footwear associations are reminding companies that they must seriously study the EU's laws and regulations on the export of leather shoes, standardize their own business practices, abide by industry rules, and create a good environment for Chinese shoe enterprises to export.
