LEAF Co., Ltd., based in Kyoto, has recently introduced a new fabric product made from animal hair vacuum yarn for the autumn/winter 2011 season. This innovative material has already attracted a series of OEM orders, showcasing strong market interest. The unique feature of this vacuum yarn lies in its specialized processing through spinning, weaving, and knitting techniques, resulting in a hollow structure filled with air. As a result, fabrics made from this yarn offer a more refined texture, superior insulation, and garments that are 30% lighter than those made from traditional materials. In the previous season, LEAF focused on introducing cashmere-based coats and jackets. One long coat weighs approximately 600 grams, while a regular coat is around 400 grams. These products combine lightness with a soft hand feel, making them highly appealing to high-end fashion brands. The company has successfully secured orders of 2,000 units per batch from these premium clients. This year, LEAF expanded its product line beyond cashmere by incorporating wool, angora, alpaca, velvet, and cotton yarns. In addition to pure animal hair products, the company also introduced blended yarns combining angora with synthetic fibers, as well as 34- and 38-fiber dyeing options. Beyond clothing, LEAF launched a new range of bedding products. Among them, the newly developed 200-thread-count cashmere fabric comes in both solid and printed designs, offering versatility for different applications. Today, LEAF’s business extends beyond OEM production of fine cashmere yarns for sweaters and scarves. The company now offers waterproof fabric solutions tailored to customer needs. With continuous improvements in its supply chain and product development, LEAF is steadily increasing its market presence both in Japan and internationally.
