The second pattern in our new collection for this season is the Butterfly Blouse paired with a coordinating Skirt. I felt it was important to offer more separates for the girls. While there are plenty of adorable dress patterns available, they also need sporty pieces to complete their wardrobes. This ensemble includes two charming styles that will be perfect for spring and summer, with the skirt being particularly versatile for all seasons.
The top has a soft A-line/trapeze silhouette that gives it a relaxed, breezy vibe. The pleated skirt is designed as a pull-on style, making it incredibly adaptable for various occasions and times of the year.
The blouse offers two delightful sleeve options—sweet little flutter sleeves (View A) or classic cap sleeves (View B), as seen on these two lovely models.
The blouse features a back keyhole opening with a button closure and a subtle peplum with gathers at the front. It’s a timeless yet modern design, reminiscent of the Ice Cream Dress and the Roller Skate Dress. Its simplicity lets the fabric take center stage.
The skirt is a straightforward pull-on A-line style with front pleats and an elasticized back waist. Its construction is quick and easy, making it a highly versatile pattern suitable for back-to-school outfits, casual summer days, or even formal events. Our little models were reluctant to part with their ensembles, which I took as a positive sign.

S always enjoys posing for the new styles, and it's far easier to keep her still during photos compared to the younger ones.
The blouse looks fantastic in fabrics like lawn, voile, rayon, double gauze, and quilting cottons. The skirt can be crafted from lightweight materials such as lawn and double gauze all the way to heavier fabrics like fine-wale corduroy and twill. S’s skirt is made from silk dupioni, so remember to consider dressier fabric choices as well. I opted for rayon for her blouse, and she adores its silky drape. It would make for a stunning wedding outfit! I also imagine it will look adorable with a cardigan come fall.
