India's Tirupur Textile Center held for two days**

Several industrial associations in Tirupur, India, along with prominent political parties and trade unions, have called on the central government to take immediate action to stabilize falling yarn prices. In response to growing concerns over the economic impact on textile manufacturers, they have announced a two-day strike set to begin on September 24th and continue through September 25th.

The decision was made following a meeting between these groups and the Tirupur Exporters and Manufacturers Association (TEAMA) on September 13. During the session, they agreed to organize a continuous 48-hour protest starting from September 24th, with no breaks in between. The protest aims to pressure the government into implementing urgent measures to address the declining prices of yarn, which are affecting the livelihoods of thousands in the region.

The protesters argue that the only way to reverse the downward trend is by restricting cotton and yarn exports, which would help increase domestic supply and stabilize market prices. They believe this approach will provide much-needed relief to local manufacturers who are struggling with rising costs and shrinking profit margins.

Muthurathinam, the president of TEAMA, emphasized that the move is aimed at safeguarding the interests of the textile industry, which is a vital part of Tirupur’s economy. He stated that the association is working closely with other stakeholders to ensure the success of the protest and to push for meaningful policy changes. Many other association officials were present at the meeting, underscoring the broad-based support for the initiative.

This planned strike reflects the deep frustration among industry leaders, who feel that their concerns have not been adequately addressed by policymakers. With the textile sector facing significant challenges, the call for action has gained widespread attention, signaling a growing demand for government intervention to restore stability in the market.
