Yesterday, in accordance with the "Labor Law" and the "Labor Contract Law," Wuhan City introduced seven strict regulations aimed at small-scale garment enterprises. These rules are designed to protect workers' rights and ensure fair labor practices within the industry.
The seven "iron rules" include: First, all employees must present valid identification documents, and the employment of child labor is strictly prohibited. Second, employers are not allowed to collect or hold any form of security deposit, guarantee, or personal documents from their workers. Third, a written labor contract must be signed within 30 days of hiring. Fourth, the minimum wage standards set by the state must be strictly followed. Fifth, wages should be paid in cash on a monthly basis, and no withholding or delayed payment is permitted. Sixth, the national work-hour regulations must be adhered to, and overtime pay should be provided according to legal requirements. Lastly, basic social insurance, including pensions and medical care, must be established for all workers.
These measures reflect Wuhan's commitment to improving labor conditions and ensuring that small-scale businesses operate in compliance with national labor laws. The regulations are expected to bring greater transparency and fairness to the garment industry, benefiting both employers and employees in the long run.
