Wuhan City, Hubei Province set 7 "iron gauges" for small-sized garment enterprises

Yesterday, Wuhan City introduced seven strict "iron rules" for small-scale garment enterprises, based on the country's "Labor Law" and "Labor Contract Law." These regulations aim to protect workers' rights and ensure fair and legal employment practices in the industry. The seven key rules include: First, all employees must present valid identification documents, and the use of child labor is strictly prohibited. Second, employers are not allowed to collect or hold any form of security deposit, guarantee, or personal documents from their workers. Third, a written labor contract must be signed within 30 days of hiring. Fourth, the minimum wage standards set by the state must be strictly followed. Fifth, wages must be paid in cash on a monthly basis, with no delays or deductions. Sixth, working hours must comply with national regulations, and overtime pay must be provided for any extra hours worked. Lastly, employers are required to provide basic social insurance, including pensions and medical coverage, for their employees. These measures reflect a stronger commitment to labor rights and workplace fairness, helping to build a more sustainable and ethical environment for both workers and businesses in Wuhan’s garment sector.
